Nov 9 to 13 weekly setups: gold up 5.03%, CPI Tuesday, PPI Friday
By Emanuele Calcina · Published 7 November 2026 · Prices are Friday closes, pulled 7 November 2026 · All weekly forecasts

Gold ran 5.03% last week and closed at 4069.55. The high tagged 4146.78 before sellers pulled it back, and it opens this week near 4072.10. That is a heavy candle to sit on before a US inflation week.
This week is about US prices. Core and headline CPI land Tuesday Nov 10 at 8:30 AM ET, with headline inflation seen at 3.9% year over year against 3.7% before, and PPI follows Friday Nov 13, forecast at 0.4% after a hot 1.3%. Last week's run built on the post-election move [h4], then cooled into Friday's jobs data [h8]. Every market below gets last week's open, high, low and close, its own calendar for Nov 9 to 13, and the levels that matter.
The week at a glance
| Market | Friday close | Week | Last week's low / high | What decides the week |

Closes are last week's, 2 to 6 November: CoinGecko daily closes at 00:00 UTC; Dukascopy 1-minute bid candles; ECB reference rates via Frankfurter, one close per day. FX rates are one reference close per day, so the weekly high and low are the highest and lowest daily closes, not intraday extremes. The week-ahead times are New York time (ET).
GoldGold caps a strong week near the highs with CPI and PPI ahead
Gold opened at 3898.06 and closed at 4069.55, up 5.03% on the week. The post-election repricing did the heavy lifting; price tested resistance after the vote (FXEmpire), and the early House count kept the bid alive (FXStreet). A firm US labor read kept the top end honest (FOREX.com).
| Last week (2 to 6 Nov) | Open | High | Low | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gold | 3,898.06 | 4,146.78 | 3,890.91 | 4,069.55 | +5.03% |
What moved it
Two forces are fighting here. Safe-haven buying comes from Middle East risk and the on-and-off talk of a US-Iran deal (www.tmgm.com), while a steady jobs market keeps rate cuts on hold (FOREX.com). Gold pays no interest, so higher-for-longer rates make it work harder to hold a bid.
The week ahead
The week is built around US inflation. CPI Tuesday, PPI Friday.
| Day | Time (ET) | Release | Forecast / previous | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Core Inflation Rate MoM | 0.2% / 0.3% | Core CPI MoM is seen at 0.2% from 0.3%. A cooler core helps gold; a hot one revives higher-for-longer. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate YoY | 3.9% / 3.7% | Headline inflation YoY is forecast at 3.9% from 3.7%. A rising annual rate is the clearest threat to gold here. |
| Thu 12 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Initial Jobless Claims | 195 / 189 | Jobless claims, seen at 195 from 189, feed the labor story that has been capping the metal [h6]. |
| Fri 13 | 8:30 AM ET | USD PPI MoM | 0.4% / 1.3% | PPI MoM is forecast at 0.4% from 1.3%, Friday's last word on inflation before the weekend. |
Levels
The ceiling is last week's high at 4146.78. Support is last week's close at 4069.55, just under the current price, then last week's low at 3890.91 far below.
Clearing last week's high at 4146.78 says the election bid still runs the show. Losing last week's low at 3890.91 is the first real crack.
Bottom line. Gold enters the week one soft CPI from a fresh test of last week's high at 4146.78, and one hot print from losing last week's close at 4069.55. The chart still points up, but Tuesday decides the week.
EUR/USDEUR/USD closes on its weekly low with US CPI the next test
The euro barely moved and still lost ground, opening at 1.1216 and closing at 1.1165, down 0.06%. That close sat right on the weekly low, which tells you who held the pen by Friday. The NFP session set the tone into the close (Trade That Swing).
| Last week (2 to 6 Nov) | Open | High | Low | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EUR/USD | 1.1216 | 1.1267 | 1.1165 | 1.1165 | -0.06% |
What moved it
The story under the move is a growth gap. Eurozone business surveys have cooled while the US keeps expanding, and that split favors the dollar (XTB.com). Add Lagarde's early exit from the ECB (StoneX) and the euro has a credibility question to answer before it can turn.
The week ahead
US data drives this one, with the euro's own prints clustered at the end. CPI Tuesday is the main event.
| Day | Time (ET) | Release | Forecast / previous | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 9 | 4:30 AM ET | EUR Sentix Investor Confidence | 2.1 / 2.7 | Monday's Sentix investor confidence is seen slipping to 2.1 from 2.7, an early read on how sour Europe's mood is. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Core Inflation Rate MoM | 0.2% / 0.3% | US Core CPI MoM, forecast 0.2% from 0.3%, moves the dollar side of the pair more than anything from Europe. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate YoY | 3.9% / 3.7% | US inflation YoY is seen at 3.9% from 3.7%; a hot number keeps the dollar bid and pressures the euro. |
| Fri 13 | 5:00 AM ET | EUR Employment Change QoQ Prel | 0.1% / 0.1% | Eurozone employment change QoQ is forecast at 0.1%, matching the prior 0.1%, a check on whether the slowdown is reaching jobs. |
Levels
Resistance is last week's high at 1.1267, with the open at 1.1216 as the first hurdle. Support is last week's low at 1.1165, which is also where the week closed.
A break under last week's low at 1.1165 opens the trapdoor the chart already hints at. Reclaiming last week's high at 1.1267 is what the bulls need first.
Bottom line. A break back above last week's high at 1.1267 would change the tone; until then last week's low at 1.1165 is the line that matters. Tuesday's US inflation print should pick the side.
GBP/USDGBP/USD fades off 1.35 and closes on its low before UK GDP
Cable looked up and got rejected. It opened at 1.3419, tested 1.35, then closed at 1.3385, down 0.10% and sat on the weekly low (TradingView). The pound reached for the big figure and could not hold it.
| Last week (2 to 6 Nov) | Open | High | Low | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GBP/USD | 1.3419 | 1.3500 | 1.3385 | 1.3385 | -0.10% |
What moved it
The read is a two-sided economy. US manufacturing is still expanding while UK demand looks soft, and that tilts the pair toward the dollar. The Bank of England has a hard call coming (TradingView), and the weekly technical picture already leans lower (StoneX).
The week ahead
Two heavyweight prints frame the week. US CPI Tuesday, then UK GDP Thursday.
| Day | Time (ET) | Release | Forecast / previous | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 9 | 7:01 PM ET | GBP BRC Retail Sales Monitor YoY | 1% | Monday's BRC retail sales monitor, last at 1%, is an early tell on whether UK spending is really fading. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Core Inflation Rate MoM | 0.2% / 0.3% | US Core CPI MoM, seen at 0.2% from 0.3%, drives the dollar leg and can swamp the UK data. |
| Thu 12 | 2:00 AM ET | GBP GDP Growth Rate QoQ Prel | 0.7% / 0.4% | UK GDP QoQ is forecast at 0.7% from 0.4%, the number that decides how much room the Bank of England has. |
| Thu 12 | 2:00 AM ET | GBP GDP MoM | -0.1% / 0.1% | GDP MoM is seen at -0.1% from 0.1%; a negative print would hand the dollar the pair. |
Levels
Resistance is last week's high at 1.35, with the open at 1.3419 to clear first. Support is last week's low at 1.3385, exactly where price closed.
Lose last week's low at 1.3385 and the rejection at 1.35 becomes a lower high worth respecting. Back above the open at 1.3419 and the pullback looks like noise.
Bottom line. GBP/USD closed on the back foot at 1.3385 after 1.35 turned it away, and Thursday's UK GDP is the swing factor. Hold the low and this is a pause; lose it and the sellers have their level.
USD/JPYUSD/JPY grinds back up to last week's high with US CPI ahead
The yen gave ground again. USD/JPY opened at 157.90 and closed at 158.33, up 0.69% on the week (FOREX.com). Falling Japanese yields and steadier US yields did the work, and the pair held near the top of its range (Forex Factory).
| Last week (2 to 6 Nov) | Open | High | Low | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| USD/JPY | 157.90 | 158.46 | 157.90 | 158.33 | +0.69% |
What moved it
This is a yield story. Japanese real rates are still negative, so the carry keeps working against the yen (Investing.com), and firmer US yields pull the pair the same way (Forex Factory). Stronger Japanese inflation is on the table, but the market cares more about when the Bank of Japan actually moves.
The week ahead
US inflation leads, with a run of second-tier Japanese data around it. CPI Tuesday is the one that matters.
| Day | Time (ET) | Release | Forecast / previous | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 9 | 6:30 PM ET | JPY Household Spending MoM | 0.3% / 0.1% | Monday's Japanese household spending is seen at 0.3% from 0.1%, a small read on whether the domestic side can support the yen. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Core Inflation Rate MoM | 0.2% / 0.3% | US Core CPI MoM, forecast 0.2% from 0.3%, moves the dollar side and the yield path the pair follows. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate YoY | 3.9% / 3.7% | US inflation YoY is seen at 3.9% from 3.7%; a hot print lifts yields and the yen stays pressured. |
| Fri 13 | 8:30 AM ET | USD PPI MoM | 0.4% / 1.3% | US PPI MoM, forecast 0.4% from 1.3%, is Friday's last inflation input before the weekend. |
Levels
Resistance is last week's high at 158.46, just above where the week closed. Support is last week's low at 157.90, which also marks the weekly open.
Through last week's high at 158.46 and the yield trade stays in control. Back under last week's low at 157.90 and the yen finally gets a foothold.
Bottom line. USD/JPY sits near the highs at 158.33 with the yield gap doing the work and US CPI as the swing risk. Hold last week's open at 157.90 and the drift stays up; lose it and the yen bulls get a chance.
USD/CADUSD/CAD closes the week on its high, US CPI decides the next move
USD/CAD opened at 1.3974 and closed the week at 1.4066, its high, a +0.69% gain. Buyers leaned off support early (investingLive). The loonie had been getting credit for firmer oil and a steadier rate view, yet the greenback took the week outright and the close printed right on that 1.4066 high (StoneX).
| Last week (2 to 6 Nov) | Open | High | Low | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| USD/CAD | 1.3974 | 1.4066 | 1.3935 | 1.4066 | +0.69% |
What moved it
The read is simple. Into this week the pair sits at a turning point, and the US side holds the cards (CMC Markets). Some desks still see the loonie supported with the top capped (FOREX.com), while others read the chart as coiled to break support after a quiet, directionless stretch (Economies.com) (Baystreet.ca).
The week ahead
This week is American. Tuesday's inflation batch and Friday's PPI do the heavy lifting, and the Canadian calendar barely gets a word in.
| Day | Time (ET) | Release | Forecast / previous | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate MoM | 0.3% / 0.6% | Monthly inflation, forecast 0.3% against 0.6% prior. The first real test of the dollar bid this week. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Core Inflation Rate YoY | 2.8% / 2.6% | Core yearly inflation seen at 2.8% versus 2.6%. A hotter core keeps the Fed cautious and the dollar firm. |
| Fri 13 | 8:30 AM ET | USD PPI MoM | 0.4% / 1.3% | Producer prices Friday, forecast 0.4% after 1.3%. A soft read takes the air out of the dollar. |
| Mon 9 | 6:00 AM ET | CAD Leading Index MoM | 0.08% | Canada's leading index Monday, last 0.08%. Thin input, but the only domestic read early in the week. |
Levels
Last week's high at 1.4066 is the ceiling, and the close printed right on it. Last week's low at 1.3935 is the floor, with the open at 1.3974 just above.
Clear 1.4066 and the dollar bid has legs into CPI. Lose 1.3935 and the whole up week looks hollow.
Bottom line. USD/CAD ended pinned to its high, and the direction now sits with US inflation. Watch 1.4066 above and 1.3935 below, then let the CPI reaction pick the side.

USD/CHFFranc keeps the upper hand on USD/CHF as US inflation looms
The franc took the week. USD/CHF opened at 0.8196 and settled at 0.8189 for a -0.49% loss, and the low at 0.8155 came on the way down. That fit a soft dollar (investingLive). Buyers kept leaning on the support shelf but could not turn the tape back green by Friday (FOREX.com).
| Last week (2 to 6 Nov) | Open | High | Low | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| USD/CHF | 0.8196 | 0.8199 | 0.8155 | 0.8189 | -0.49% |
What moved it
The pair came in still oversold from an earlier selloff (Economies.com). So the lean is soft. One read keeps it heavy while price trades under the recent cap (FXStreet), and the weekly technical picture still tilts the franc's way as the US inflation prints land (StoneX).
The week ahead
There is no Swiss data on the sheet. So the franc leg rides as a passenger, and every real catalyst this week is stamped American.
| Day | Time (ET) | Release | Forecast / previous | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate MoM | 0.3% / 0.6% | Monthly US inflation Tuesday, forecast 0.3% from 0.6%. This is the swing factor for the dollar leg. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate YoY | 3.9% / 3.7% | Headline yearly inflation seen at 3.9% versus 3.7%. A rise there argues for a firmer dollar. |
| Fri 13 | 8:30 AM ET | USD PPI MoM | 0.4% / 1.3% | Producer prices Friday, forecast 0.4% after 1.3%. The week's last read on the US inflation pulse. |
| Thu 12 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Initial Jobless Claims | 195 / 189 | Jobless claims Thursday, forecast 195 against 189. A labor soft spot would undercut the dollar case. |
Levels
Last week's high at 0.8199 caps it, with the open at 0.8196 sitting just under. Last week's low at 0.8155 is the floor, and the close at 0.8189 held above it.
Hold 0.8155 and this stays a grind. Break it on a soft US print and the franc extends.
Bottom line. USD/CHF gave the franc the edge last week, and nothing on the Swiss calendar changes that alone. The whole week turns on US inflation, and the reaction will matter more than the forecast.
AUD/USDAUD/USD breaks down hard and closes on its low into US CPI
Nothing subtle about this move. AUD/USD opened at 0.7008 and closed the week at 0.6871, its low, down -2.18%. The high at 0.7015 was as good as it got. Sellers dragged it to the lowest since mid-October and the bias stayed down from the open bell to the close (investingLive) (FXStreet).
| Last week (2 to 6 Nov) | Open | High | Low | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AUD/USD | 0.7008 | 0.7015 | 0.6871 | 0.6871 | -2.18% |
What moved it
The drop puts a multi-month range in real danger (StoneX). That tells you plenty. The Aussie stayed soft even while the dollar was not strong (FOREX.com), and most reads still call it exposed from here into a heavy data week (Forex Factory).
The week ahead
The Aussie gets its own catalysts first. Then the US inflation week takes the wheel and the local reads fade into the background.
| Day | Time (ET) | Release | Forecast / previous | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 9 | 7:30 PM ET | AUD NAB Business Confidence | -13 | NAB business confidence Monday night, last at -13. A weak print feeds the slowdown story already pressing the Aussie. |
| Mon 9 | 6:30 PM ET | AUD Consumer Confidence MoM | -4.7% | Consumer confidence Monday night, last -4.7%. Another soft read lines up with the downbeat domestic mood. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate YoY | 3.9% / 3.7% | US yearly inflation Tuesday, seen 3.9% from 3.7%. A firm US number can press the Aussie further. |
| Fri 13 | 8:30 AM ET | USD PPI MoM | 0.4% / 1.3% | US producer prices Friday, forecast 0.4% after 1.3%. The last US inflation read before the weekend. |
Levels
Last week's high at 0.7015 is the first ceiling, with the open at 0.7008 just below. Last week's low at 0.6871 is where it closed, so the week ended on the floor.
A bounce has to clear 0.7015 to mean anything. Stay under 0.6871 and that multi-month range stays at risk [h1].
Bottom line. AUD/USD ended on its low after a hard -2.18% slide, and the chart still points down. The home surveys come first, then US inflation decides whether 0.6871 holds.
NZD/USDUS inflation will decide whether NZD/USD holds last week's low
As went the Aussie, so went the Kiwi. NZD/USD opened at 0.5627 and closed the week at 0.5544, its low, off -1.63%. The high at 0.5637 held it back. The chart had flagged downside risk below support before the week even started, and price walked straight into it by Friday (FXStreet).
| Last week (2 to 6 Nov) | Open | High | Low | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NZD/USD | 0.5627 | 0.5637 | 0.5544 | 0.5544 | -1.63% |
What moved it
The Kiwi had been leaning on talk of a firmer rate path at home, but that support thinned as the week wore on (FOREX.com). Support held, barely. One read still has it above key support (Economies.com), while another keeps the focus pinned to those recent lows (Continuum Economics).
The week ahead
New Zealand offers one data point of note. The rest of the week is American, and the dollar reaction is what sets the tone.
| Day | Time (ET) | Release | Forecast / previous | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thu 12 | 4:30 PM ET | NZD Business NZ PMI | 56.5 | Business NZ PMI Thursday, last 56.5. The one domestic read, and a drop would dent the firmer-economy case. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate MoM | 0.3% / 0.6% | US monthly inflation Tuesday, forecast 0.3% from 0.6%. The main swing factor for the dollar side. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate YoY | 3.9% / 3.7% | Yearly US inflation seen 3.9% versus 3.7%. A hot number keeps pressure on the Kiwi. |
| Fri 13 | 8:30 AM ET | USD PPI MoM | 0.4% / 1.3% | Producer prices Friday, forecast 0.4% after 1.3%. The week's closing look at US inflation. |
Levels
Last week's high at 0.5637 caps the first bounce, with the open at 0.5627 just under. Last week's low at 0.5544 is where it closed, right on the floor.
Reclaim 0.5637 and the selloff loses its grip. Break 0.5544 and the next leg down opens up [h1].
Bottom line. NZD/USD closed on its low, in line with the broader move against the dollar. With only the PMI at home, US inflation calls the shots on whether 0.5544 gives way.
EUR/GBPEUR/GBP grinds near a one-year low as the pound keeps the upper hand
The pair opened at 0.8358 and that was as high as it got. It slid to a 0.8341 close, which on a close-to-close basis still leaves it up 0.04%, so the net weekly move came to almost nothing (Continuum Economics). The pound stayed bid on firmer UK data while the euro sat on the back foot (FXStreet).
| Last week (2 to 6 Nov) | Open | High | Low | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EUR/GBP | 0.8358 | 0.8358 | 0.8336 | 0.8341 | +0.04% |
What moved it
The split is really about the gap between the two economies. UK surveys have stayed firm, so the pound keeps its bid, and there's noise around the Chancellor's Budget that is pulling sterling into focus (StoneX). The euro looks softer. Even solid German output could not drag the pair clear of its range (TradingPedia).
The week ahead
Thursday is the day that counts. The UK GDP batch lands early, and a couple of euro prints bookend the week.
| Day | Time (ET) | Release | Forecast / previous | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 9 | 4:30 AM ET | EUR Sentix Investor Confidence | 2.1 / 2.7 | Sentix confidence opens the euro's week, forecast 2.1 against 2.7 last time, so sentiment is seen cooling. |
| Thu 12 | 2:00 AM ET | GBP GDP Growth Rate QoQ Prel | 0.7% / 0.4% | UK GDP quarterly is the heavyweight, seen at 0.7% versus 0.4% prior, a pickup that would back the strong pound. |
| Thu 12 | 2:00 AM ET | GBP GDP MoM | -0.1% / 0.1% | The monthly GDP reading is seen at -0.1% after 0.1%, a soft patch that could take some shine off sterling. |
| Fri 13 | 5:00 AM ET | EUR Employment Change YoY Prel | 0.4% / 0.5% | Euro area employment change rounds out Friday, forecast 0.4% against 0.5%, a minor cooling on the jobs side. |
Levels
Resistance is last week's high at 0.8358, which was also the weekly open. Support is last week's low at 0.8336, with the 0.8341 close sitting just above it.
A close back above 0.8358 would say the pound's run is stalling. A break under 0.8336 keeps the euro defensive and the one-year low theme alive [h5].
Bottom line. This stays a pound story until the euro hands over a reason to change it, and Thursday's GDP is where that case gets made or broken. Watch 0.8358 above and 0.8336 below.
BitcoinBitcoin closes near the week's low with a hot CPI print dead ahead
Rough week. Bitcoin pushed up to 80443 early, then handed all of it back and closed at 76004, down 2.92% from the prior close. A tech selloff flushed out the leveraged longs (Bitcoin Magazine), and by Friday the coin was trading where it last sat seven weeks ago (Bloomberg.com).
| Last week (2 to 6 Nov) | Open | High | Low | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin | 76,709 | 80,443 | 75,775 | 76,004 | -2.92% |
What moved it
The mood is defensive. Forbes framed it as a Fed price shock over crypto after warnings on a gold and silver crash (Forbes), while the question of where Bitcoin heads once the US midterms are behind it is still wide open (CoinDesk). Fund demand has tried to steady the tape. It hasn't been enough to turn the tone.
The week ahead
The calendar is loaded with US inflation. Tuesday is the pressure point, with a backup read on Friday.
| Day | Time (ET) | Release | Forecast / previous | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 9 | 11:00 AM ET | USD United States-NY Fed Consumer Expectation-NY Fed Inflation Expectation 1yr | 3.9% | NY Fed one-year inflation expectations open the week, last at 3.9%, an early read on how sticky prices feel. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate MoM | 0.3% / 0.6% | Headline CPI monthly is seen at 0.3% after 0.6%, a cooler pace that risk assets would welcome. |
| Tue 10 | 8:30 AM ET | USD Inflation Rate YoY | 3.9% / 3.7% | Annual CPI is seen ticking up to 3.9% from 3.7%, the print that could revive the Fed shock worry [h3]. |
| Fri 13 | 8:30 AM ET | USD PPI MoM | 0.4% / 1.3% | PPI closes the week, forecast 0.4% against 1.3% prior, a second inflation gauge for the Fed read. |
Levels
Resistance is last week's high at 80443, where the early-week rally ran out. Support is last week's low at 75775, with the 76004 close resting just above it.
A push back above 80443 would say the risk-off wave is easing. Lose 75775 on a close and the door opens to lower levels with a weaker tone [h7].
Bottom line. Bitcoin heads into the week heavy and parked near its lows, and the whole read hinges on Tuesday's inflation. Softer prints hand the bounce some room, hotter ones drag 75775 back into view.
